About Me

Hi my name is Colleen. I have spent a lifetime being crazy about animals. As a child I hid a Guinea Pig under my bed, turtles on top of my wardrobe (in a flat glass dish) and white fantail pigeons in the shed. Thought it was all hush hush, parents knew all along.
My first job at fifteen was as a kennel maid at guide dogs for the blind were I got promoted onto the early training unit.
I have owned Golden retrievers, Great Danes and German Shepherds. Unfortunately marriage and family drew me away from working with pets and I went into the childcare profession were I achieved many recognised qualifications.
On retirement I find myself in a fantastic property (I am so blessed, and have to keep pinching myself to make sure it’s all real). I have successfully completed courses in dog grooming, understanding dog behaviour and communication, plus animal first aid. I am police checked (DBS)
The pets I care for will be introduced and observed for being friendly and sociable. They will be treated with kind hands and can play or rest indoors or out.
Food and bedding must be provided by you, including treats (if allowed)
If you want your pet to be bathed before pick up that’s charged between £15 and £20 depending on coat type.
If your permission is given for your pet to have treats then I can supply healthy vegetable treats such as baked carrot or baked sweet potatoes at no extra cost.
Pet Getaway uses only natural rainwater for drinking.
About the heartbeat at my feet…
Kole my Golden doodle is two years old, he has a beautiful temperament and is everyone’s friend. He is part of our family and adores children almost as much as doggy playmates
