Home Dog Boarding ā Wigan
This policy ensures the safety, welfare, and controlled management of all dogs in our care where a female dog (bitch) may enter or be in season (oestrus).
Due to the nature of home dog boarding and mixed household environments, special precautions are required.
Pet Getaway does not accept bitches that are in season for boarding or day care.
This is because:
It can cause distress and behavioural changes in other dogs
It increases risk of conflict
It creates significant management and welfare challenges
It increases risk of accidental mating
It may increase escape attempts in male dogs
Our priority is a calm, controlled environment.
If a bitch unexpectedly comes into season while boarding:
The owner will be contacted immediately.
The dog will be separated from all other dogs.
Enhanced supervision will be implemented.
The owner may be required to arrange early collection.
Where early collection is not possible:
The dog will remain isolated from all other dogs.
Additional management fees may apply due to increased supervision requirements.
Owners must inform Pet Getaway if:
Their dog is due to come into season.
Their dog has recently been in season.
There are any hormonal or reproductive considerations.
Failure to disclose may result in:
Immediate termination of boarding.
Loss of payment.
Future refusal of services.
Unneutered males may experience:
Heightened stress
Increased agitation
Marking behaviour
Escape attempts
For this reason, compatibility is assessed carefully during Meet & Greet sessions.
While all reasonable precautions are taken:
Pet Getaway cannot accept liability for accidental mating where incorrect or incomplete information has been provided by the owner.
Owners remain fully responsible for reproductive management of their dog.
This policy exists to:
Protect all dogs in our care
Maintain a calm home environment
Reduce stress and behavioural risk
Meet licensing welfare standards
Safety and welfare always come before convenience.
