Home Dog Boarding – Wigan, Greater Manchester
Pet Getaway does not accept puppies under six months of age for boarding.
This policy is in place to ensure that puppies are developmentally ready for a boarding environment and able to cope safely with the presence of other dogs.
Puppies over six months of age will be supported with a structured care plan to ensure their welfare needs are met.
This plan may consider:
Age and developmental stage
Energy levels
Feeding schedule
Behaviour and training progress
Socialisation needs
Care routines are adapted to support each puppy appropriately.
Puppies will be exercised according to age-appropriate guidance.
As a general guideline:
Five minutes of structured exercise per month of age
For example:
6-month puppy → approx. 30 minutes total structured exercise
Exercise may be divided into shorter sessions throughout the day.
Exercise sessions will not occur immediately after feeding.
Puppies will be allowed at least one hour after eating before engaging in active play or exercise to reduce the risk of digestive upset or discomfort.
Puppies will be fed strictly according to the owner’s documented feeding instructions, including:
Food type
Portion sizes
Feeding frequency
Owners must provide sufficient food for the duration of the stay.
Puppies require significant rest to support healthy development.
Pet Getaway provides:
A quiet resting area
Comfortable bedding
Opportunities for undisturbed sleep
Puppies may access their resting space whenever they wish.
Downtime and relaxation are encouraged through:
Calm handling

Gentle grooming and calm handling may be used to help puppies become comfortable with routine care.
These interactions are conducted carefully and respectfully to support:
Trust

Pet Getaway supports positive reinforcement training only.
Any agreed training methods will use:

Toileting accidents may occur with young dogs.
If this happens:
The area will be cleaned promptly

Owner guidance may be followed where appropriate.
Pet Getaway recognises that puppies require additional supervision, structure, and patience.
