Home Dog Boarding – Wigan
This policy outlines how Pet Getaway manages unneutered male and female dogs within a home boarding environment.
As a licensed home dog boarding provider, we prioritise safety, welfare, and controlled group dynamics.
Unneutered dogs may be accepted subject to assessment.
Acceptance is not automatic and is based on:
Temperament
Behaviour history
Social compatibility
Age and maturity
Presence of other dogs in care
We reserve the right to decline bookings where we believe group harmony or welfare may be compromised.
Unneutered males may display:
Increased marking behaviour
Heightened interest in other dogs
Mounting behaviour
Increased reactivity
Escape attempts if a bitch in season is nearby
During Meet & Greet, we assess:
Social confidence
Response to correction
Over-arousal levels
Behaviour around other dogs
If behavioural concerns arise, boarding may be declined.
Bitches must not be in season during boarding.
Owners must inform us if:
Their dog is due to come into season
Their dog has recently finished a season
There are hormonal or reproductive considerations
Please refer to our Bitch in Season Policy for full details.
Where unneutered dogs are accepted, we may:
Supervise social interactions closely
Separate dogs during rest periods
Feed dogs separately
Adjust group combinations
Limit certain play scenarios
No dog will be forced into inappropriate social situations.
Owners must fully disclose:
Previous aggression
Mounting or dominance behaviours
Marking behaviour indoors
Any prior incidents
Failure to disclose relevant behaviour may result in:
Immediate termination of boarding
Early collection required
Refusal of future bookings
Pet Getaway takes reasonable precautions to prevent mating.
However, owners remain responsible for:
Reproductive management
Ensuring accurate disclosure
Collection if a dog enters season
We cannot accept liability for reproductive outcomes where incorrect or incomplete information has been provided.
This policy exists to:
Protect all dogs in our care
Maintain a calm, safe home environment
Reduce stress and conflict
Meet licensing and welfare standards
Safety and compatibility always take priority over booking volume.
